Care through collaboration
When I think of being part of a community, collaboration is at the heart of that.
When fellow Tiny News Collective member Mark Swartz of Aging in America approached FYLPRO's Tayo to partner and collaborate on caregiving stories in the Filipino community, it was a no brainer.
Aging in America's mission is “Reinventing care for older Americans, one story at a time.”
The result was two incredibly intimate and important stories of what caregiving means by two of Tayo's core leaders Joshua Ang Price and Frances Angela (Maher) Rodriguez.
Co-publishing both pieces on both sites not only amplifies the impact also exposes the stories to new audiences.
It sheds a light on expanding what caregiving can look like beyond medical care facilities and all that comes with caring for a family member from language barriers to navigating through cultural expectations.
It's a great a start to more collaborations on courageous conversations in the future.
