Thank you AAJA
Earlier this month, I attended my last Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) governing board meeting as VP of Journalism Programs.
As AAJA President Nicole Dungca reminded me, I’ve served practically every type of role in AAJA - as a chapter and national board member, committee member, convention co-chair, convention programming co-chair, 40th anniversary liaison and co-editor of “Intersections: A Journalistic History of Asian Pacific America” which published earlier this year.
There are few things in my life that have been a throughline and that’s AAJA.
I’ve met so many lifelong friends and mentors through this organization. I’ve grown so much personally and professionally thanks to AAJA.
While my board term ends, my time with AAJA does not.
As an AAJA member, VOICES and ELP alum, I’m excited to stay involved in different ways with 2026 around the corner and the new challenges ahead for the industry and beyond.
One thing is clear, AAJA has been with me since I was a student member to every job change in the last 20 plus years across 3 cross country moves.
As we close in on 2025, if you are looking to make a lasting impact, please consider supporting AAJA through the Futures fund.
You can help ensure Asian Americans and Pacific Islander (AAPI) journalists are represented in newsroom leadership and news coverage of AAPIs and AAPI issues is equitable and accurate for generations to come.
