Thank You Dallas

Some personal news....After three amazing years at The Dallas Morning News, I'm leaving Texas for the next chapter in my journey (more on that next week)!

It’s been an honor and pleasure to work with everyone at the DMN.

Working at the DMN has been truly full circle in more ways than I could have imagined and why Dallas will always be a special place for me:

-I started my career at a newspaper previously owned by A.H. Belo (The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, California) - back when they still had 8 zoned editions!

-I attended my first Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) convention in Dallas 23 years ago in 2002 - where I first met Tom Huang

-I flew on an airplane for the first time ever to attend that AAJA conference in Dallas

From day one, the DMN made me feel welcome and part of something that really matters.

To my teams—Audience, Research and Archives, Multiplatform, and Planning desks—thank you for your thoughtfulness, collaboration, and for always putting our readers first.

Huge thanks to Ashley Slayton, Scott Bell, Michael Apuan, and Erin S. for your creativity, leadership and guidance as we make our stories accessible across all platforms and audiences.

Thank you to Ashley and Steve on Back to the Ballot initiative - which aimed to get more Texans informed about voting and to the polls: https://betternews.org/newsletter-surveys-events-inform-voters-increase-turnout/

Special thank you to the Al Día Dallas team (Silvana Pagliuca, Lorena Flores, Imelda García, Maria Ramos Pacheco, Abraham Nudelstejer, Jose Luis Adriano) Kai Teoh and Michael Hogue who helped bring Elecciones to life.

Thank you to the senior leadership team (Amy Hollyfield, Steve Bruss, Christopher Wynn, Tom Huang and Colleen McCain Nelson) *** Special shoutout of course to Katrice Hardy *** - It’s been a pleasure and thank you for the support and trust along the way.

Shoutout and thank you to Siali Siaosi, Kevin Lueb, Alvie Lindsay, Yamil Berard, Paula Luna, Carol Caraway, David Guzman, Dwight Wilhelm, Jeremy Van Zee, Saher Merchant, Richard Lane, Pam Lane - for all you do and being great collaborators. It’s been an unforgettable chapter.

I’ll always be grateful for the lessons, friendships, and laughter.

I’m off to my next adventure, but the DMN will always feel like home.

Until our paths cross again, be kind to each other and stay safe.
